Nuffic is the Dutch organisation for internationalisation in education. Through initiatives such as WilWeg, they help students discover study opportunities abroad, understand financing options, and prepare for an international academic experience. Nuffic provides reliable information, guidance, and support to make studying across borders more accessible for everyone.
WILWEG – STUDIEFINANCIERING EXPLAINER
In collaboration with Mediageniek, we’ve created a mixed live-action and 2D animated explainer for Nuffic’s WilWeg platform. The video follows a student discovering the benefits of studying abroad, guided by Willie, the animated WilWeg character.
We handled all VFX, compositing, and 2D animation, bringing Willie into the real-world scenes and integrating him naturally with the live-action storyline. The result is an engaging and accessible video that clearly explains how students can finance their studies abroad.

Step behind the scenes for a brief look at how Willie’s world was brought to life. We’re sharing a few moments from the production process — starting with the first animation rig and motion tests that defined Willie’s expressions and energy, followed by the live-action shoot day with Mediageniek, where the actress performed her scenes on set. You can also peek inside the voice-over booth, where the actress and Pim Veth shaped Willie’s voice through pacing, emotion, and performance.
